The Preshal Trust
Meet Our Staff
CEO
Alan Nicholson
“I have been involved with The Preshal since the beginning (2002) becoming an employee in 2004 as Men’s Support Worker. I then studied in Social Care(HNC) and also Management Studies gaining an ACAMPA(Advanced Care and Management Practice) SVQ4 Award.
I then became the Manager in 2007 and fulfilled this role up until March 2019 when, due to the passing of May Nicholson, the founder of the charity, I was appointed CEO.
For me, my role is not a job or position but a life vocation and I try to promote Preshal as a place where people are welcome without exclusion.
I always think of Preshal as being a lighthouse in the community, a place of safety and warmth giving direction and hope to the disadvantaged in our local community.”
“….faith, hope, love….the greatest of these is love..”

“I started with the Trust in 2006. I feel so blessed to be working with the team in Preshal who, through their care, support, encouragement and guidance have transformed lives that were helpless and broken into lives full of hope, strength, courage and confidence.
PRESHAL is a safe harbour from the storms of life.”

“I really enjoy working at the Preshal Trust and with the people who come into the centre. I also love the great team spirit we have among the staff. For me it is an eye opening experience to work with disadvantaged people and to see how pleased and happy they are with the skills they are gaining through the cooking classes.
It is a pleasure to work here because of the good it does throughout the community.”

“I started with the Trust in 2004 and through the years I have met so many wonderful people and got to know so much about the issues that the clients face on a daily basis. It has been amazing to see the difference that Preshal has made in their daily lives by caring for them even taking care of people’s basic needs such as food, clothing, heat and lighting which has been so essential.”

“I have been a part time member of the Preshal Team now for nearly a year as Kitchen Assistant.
It has been great being able to face new challenges on a daily basis. I enjoy meeting new/regular service users and being able to pass on the skills I have learned to enable them to learn how to bake and cook healthy meals.
I really enjoy working at the Preshal Trust because it does so much good for others.”
